Couple things I noticed: After the first3 miles the thumbs started going numb and the palms just a tad sore. Maybe need different grips or a bar? The bike takes a little oomph to get rolling from a stop but I assume that's due to the big tires. Also noticed that with the left shifter at "2" and the right shifter at "7" that the chain jumps when starting from a dead stop. Maybe needs an adjustment or is it technique?
Were you wearing gloves? If not, try some. Your weight and the gear you're in are a far bigger factor than the tires when starting. The chain shouldn't jump. The bike probably needs adjustment, but try starting in 2-4 or 2-5, instead, until you get it checked...it'll be easier, even.
