Making a Mountain Bike an 'Urban/Bike Path' Bike
I'm in need of a 'bike path' bike, but I really don't want the very relaxed position or suspended seatpost bikes that seem to be the norm for this. Also, I want a bike I can take on gravel/hard packed trails as well. So, I would like front suspension and not too skinny tires
I'm toying with the idea of taking something like a Trek 6 series mountain bike and putting some bike path style tires on it. This should allow a decent dual-purpose machine. My only concern was that the tire diameter might be too short, but I probably won't be riding on actual paths too fast as I'll be cruising with my wife.
Anyone see any major flaws with this? I already have a very nice road bike and a Raleigh 29er for my serious offroading adventures. And no, I'm not putting hybrid tires on the 29er.
