wd 40 is not the wonder for cables and housing--- the plastic guide inside the housing melts--- it takes dirt with it down the guide and basically is only an emergency fix--- replace the housing with fresh plastic inserts--- shimano or campi --- the good stuff and a little phil grease--- works for me......
