That's what I read years ago, and I haven't seen anything to negate it. People normally associate it with lack of electrolytes, but two different people can drink the same things and one will cramp and one won't.
I had cramping problems too. And I was chugging pickle juice and power ade at every rest stop I came to. It wasn't my whole leg. But anyway, I don't know that there's a way to prevent it in any given circumstance.
