what should i expect from cat 5 crit racers?

when crit racing starts, i'm thinking about giving it a try. since i've never done road racing before, i'd probably be cat 5. i'm a decent rider now, but the only riding i do now is city on my beater fixed/ss. but i do do sprints regularly and have become pretty comfortable riding through corners quickly and i've gotten significantly better at bike control.

i'm not going to use the ss for crits, but i have a lemond right now. and if my dad doesn't get a new bike i'll still ride that. if he does i'll ride his columbus steel univega with campi...or maybe a mid 90's trek 1200 with full 105 and down tube shifters. i know the univega would be better, but the trek is just so damn cool!? i must admit i never thought i'd want to willingly ride a trek. (yes i know the lemond pretty much is a trek)

i am working out and going to find out if my college has spin classes because i won't be able ride with winter coming.

i just want to know what to expect from other cat 5 riders.
