There is a Women's Subforum; you have to gain 'permission' to get access to it. Once you have permission, the "Women's Forum" will appear on the list.

If you can't find anyone, start small, with an over-night close to home. Then, venture out. My first solo trip was to the San Juan Islands (close to my home, anyways), but, I wasn't very much alone. The San Juans are busy with tourists especially in the summer.
