In Ontario, the law only requires that the electric assist be inoperable above 32 km/h (that's 20 mph in American
) and total motor power be less than 500 W. I'm pretty sure that riding an e-bike above that speed is legal, as long as it's powered only by some combination of wind, gravity, and muscles.
