First "real" ride on the new bike after about ten years of not exercising and getting older, fatter, and out of shape. Decided to be a "he-man" and ride from the house which sits on top of a ridge which means the only way home is up one mother of a grade. Did a blistering 11 mile ride in 57 minutes (with rests of course). Rolling terrain interspersed with several really bad short grades. My legs burned after only 30 minutes. Wow. Could not climb the hill up to the house. BUT I really enjoyed my ride and it felt great to be on a bike again. So I will keep plugging at it. Got a battery put in my heart rate monitor today so now I can see with even more technical clarity how bad I am out of shape.
