Surly hubs are good but can be finicky. They eat bearings if not adjusted properly. Though a sealed cartridge bearing is used, they need to be adjusted like a loose ball bearing. Formula hubs IMO are the best i've owned, i've had some Surly hubs and like my Formula's much more, especially for the prce. Another combo for a rear wheel is. Mavic CXP33 laced to a Miche rear hub. Go to www.prowheelbuilder.com they are great, and carry Sury, Miche and Dimension hubs and you can have the wheel built for free. I'd reccomdne that site.
