pros and cons of gear/speed bike...
since there is a thread about single speed...i want to make a thread about gear bike. we all know about the pros...which is making it easier to go uphill. since i'm a noob...i'm not sure what is the cons. i know there are two gear bike so far which includes derialluers and non-deialluers like the sturmer archer hub 8 speed bike like the downtube mini. lets talk about the mini with the sturmey archer first. i rode one of these bike and when i switch from higher gear like a 4-5 down to a 3 or 2 or 1...the wheel kinda spin on me. i'm not sure how to describe it...but i hear a click or clack and spin on me..felt like i was out of control for a sec or 2. is this normal or i have a defective bike? there was no problem going from a lower gear like a 1 or 2 or 3 up to 4 or 5 or 6 or 7 or 8...only problem going from a higher gear to a lower gear. so is this consider a con?
