Sure there are some. Dynamo hubs have been around for a long time. I even had a bottle generator on my bike when I was a kid, some 30 odd years ago.
If you are going car free, I'd go with a dynamo hub over the bottle generator. They are typically more efficient. Also, since it snows in Kansas City, you won't have slippage with the bottle generator. Check out Peter White's
