i agree with others that saving money on locks is not the smart thing to do. i can cut threw a cable lock with any pair of house hold 2 dollar wire cuters, even a needle nose pliers with wire cutters can cut threw them. if i took any pair of sissors and a pair of pliers i can cut threw it. if you spent more than 50dollars on your bike get a decent lock, otherwise your better off using dental floose. even if its a cheap childs bike, get them in the habbit of locking it up every time.

bell makes some cheap 10-20 dollar u locks. i wouldn't use theses even on an old rusted bike, but if you really need to save money this one is 17 dollars at walmart. try target or even the dollar store for a cheap lock. or try ebay for used u locks, or cragiest list, might save a few more bucks. you could buy some chainlinks from a hardware store and get put a pad lock on it. again not safe at all though.
