"Restoring" means different things to different people...
Do you want it looking like it did when new, like a nicely kept original that was used, like something more modern...?
Before deciding where to start, how bad does it look?
I think it's always best to keep the original finish, if at all possible.
Components can always be cleaned up or replaced with new/restored contemporary bits.
If the original paint's just too far gone for your liking, contact Joe Bell (super cool dude!), Brian Baylis, Jim Allen, Peter Weigle, CyclArt... Any of the above can do great work, but if Joe Bell wants to do it, he'd be my first choice. If Joe's too busy, give Brian a call; he also does excellent work.
