I'm toying with a concept at the moment - new bike complete with 'justifications' for 'needing' it
I'm leaning towards a fixed gear but with provision to fit gears if I decide it was a really daft idea. I ride fixed now so I know what I'm getting into, which is why I want to go fixed but recognise that for the intended use, gears may haunt this bike's future.
Anyways, that's irrellevant.
The question is:
If I buy a frame that'll take gears, the rear fork will be spaced to **whatever the number is** which is wider than the 120mm of a track frame. In building the wheel, do I just use a track hub and spacers or are there fixed hubs designed for the wider frame.
Remember, this is all conceptual at this stage so theoretical discussions are cool, and the bike will be built from new bits, not old stuff recycled.
