I keep seeing beautiful track bikes here, but a lot of them are being used without brakes.

Track bikes without brakes belong on the track.

Track bikes on the road without brakes belong to 2 classes of riders. Really slow guys who aren't going fast enough for the limitations of rear wheel braking to make a big difference, or half-witted poseurs who think they are cool dudes.

If you really think you can stop brakeless as quickly as you could with a front brake, please stop smoking what you're smoking, and read up on some basic physics.

On the other hand, maybe the brakeless track bike is a way to cull the idiots on our roads before they get enough money for a car.

There is a simple way to test this to everyone's satisfaction.
