Ummm, yea, I think I've already been reminded not to do that again.

And you can bet your ass I am going to return the shorts.

I think if I return them, it might help to send Cannondale a message that their Chono shorts are made with less durable material that is susseptible to this kind of thing. I don't think my mistake was all that outrageous. Sure it was upsetting.
I have two pairs of Cannondale Hpx shorts that seem to be made of different material and have washed them with gloves with no negative side effects.
Just like Dirt said, hindsight is 20/20, and I will be sure not do it again. But I don't mind the LBS, cannondale, or whoever, picking up the tab on this one. I think I've put in enough $$$ to live peacefully with this decision.
