1+, my contacts have never fallen out during a ride or race. Maybe you're wearing RGP's. In that case, you should consider getting fit with soft contacts for racing.
I wear sunglasses during 'cross races until they get covered in mud, at which point I toss them.
I'm an optometrist, and no, I don't care if you wear sunglasses or not. They are your eyes, do as you please.
