Exactly how many have you witnessed? I've put thousands of miles on 2 sets of bontrager race x lites on harsh pennsylvania roads and have had 0 problems. I've also seen problems with several different kinds of wheels including the almighty zipps. All tyoes of wheels can break

That said I probably wouldn't buy a set of paired spoked wheels again, but it's not like seeing cracking bonty's are a common occurance.
