Most folks I know who work at bike shops (often including the owner) don't make a whole lot of money. And many who are also advid riders don't really want to be eating sweets and the like. In my favorite LBS I always go with a simple card to each of the mechanics with $5.00 and a card to the owner expressing my thanks and commitment to continue using the shop. I know some shops frown upon or even have policy against "tips", but I see this as something totally different. I've spoken with the owner and indicated that I expect no special treatment from the mechanics, and simply want to say thanks for good work. As I type this, it occurs to me that there are probably a good number of folks who would feel uncomfortable with this. So, I guess I'll say that anything that comes from you as sincere will be appreciated.
