It's not so much the leverage as it is that you shift your CG aft with the space bars, which takes some of the load off the front wheel. You're not applying greater force to the front of the bike but because you're sitting further back it takes a lower force on the handlebars the get the front wheel up.
That would be true except for the fact that i got a 30mm longer stem with the bars which negated the distance of the sweep.
I may not have more leverage, but it sure feels like I do.
