Great job of being alert and aware of your surroundings! I know I try to watch all the motor vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc.), and anticipate what the drivers will do, and I'm very glad to hear you were up to the challenge!
As noted above, it's good that he (the driver) was apologetic and not evil/assertive, as so often is the case.
