Thanks all. I have no concerns about getting shelled by fast guys my age. My main objective is surviving the 10 races in Cat 5 without breaking any bones, so if that can be avoided from the beginning so much the better. If necessary I'll hang off the back for my 10 and get out.
Yeah, if you're comfortable in a fast group (led by racers), you might as well just try Masters.
They're a lot easier to ride in the pack than they are to win
I think it's easier to stay in a Masters pack than a P/1/2/3 because they're so smooth. Especially once "the break" gets away. The pack gets really smooth.
