Puch's marketing-division barred (as best they could) their new line of top-end bikes/frame being shipped to the USA/Canada bearing PUCH on their headbadges, etc. In the early 1980's A-D was substituted. They thought Americans/Canadians would mispronounce PUCH as PUKE or PUSH - and drive down sales.
Apparently FAGGIN didn't have terribly aggressive marketing division behind them.
