One of our local mechanics uses a piece of 1 inch steel tubing with a sort of "hook" at the end to suspend all his repair work. It extends a good 18 inches from the bench but the wheels are barely off the ground! He squats down to do all the repairs! He has been doing this for the last 40 years and can't imagine changing his routine! Works for him!
