I am on verge of purchasing my first road bike (and need help)

Firstly: 2 chain rings vs. 3 (27 vs 18 gears)

I told salesmen that the model I want only has 2 and my area has hills. He said could change the rear cog.

The bike is last years model (@ great price) w. 2 rings
