Which airline are you finding doesn't charge? I am seriously interested.
Luftansa appears to be the most expensive airline when it comes to bicycle charges. I wouldn't even consider flying with them unless I urgently needed to for some reason.

Air Canada only charges $50 compared with $150 or something like that which the US airlines charge. Quite a bit cheaper. I've flown with them several times and would again without hesitation.

My husband has flown Thai Airways, and they don't charge for bicycles. He said it was quite a nice flight.

I'll have to double check, of course, but Qantas appears to be free as well.

The information on the above site may not be 100% accurate because airlines have been changing things quite frequently recently, so it is always best to check the information from the airline itself, but it might give you some ideas.
