Gary Fisher Kaitai vs. Specialized Crosstrail Elite

I am looking for a new bike that I can use on pavement as well as a mountain bike path (no crazy jumps or anything like that) and think that one of these two bikes will work for me. I am trying to compare the Gary Fisher Kaitai (http://www.fisherbikes.com/bike/model/kaitai/detail) to the Specialized Crosstrail Elite (http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/...jsp?spid=38465), but don't know enough about the components to figure out which would be the better bike.

They are similar in price, around $679 - $720.

I know the Kaitai has disk brakes and the crosstrail does not, but I am not sure how to compare the quality of the derailleurs, shifter, forks, etc..

The bikes are sold in separate stores so it is hard to ask the sales person.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
