I use my mtb on the road and can understand well the resistance from them. I have knobblies on. Is it a better workout though, depends on what way you look at it. Its sort of a psychological thing. with slicks you can go faster to do the same amount of work.

Most definitely, I do alot of my morning training the first part of the week on my stationary really working on some hill programs I have. The latter part of the week I ride on the road in the evening when it is warmer. 15lbs down as it is from doing mainly the stationary.

The one thing I really had to make myself do was really work the stationary and not get caught up getting lazy on it. Being that I cannot really lift 4 days a week now. I am making damn sure this becomes my primary workout,both in the morning and in the evening.
