I ended up getting the Shimano RO86 shoes rather than the cheaper RO76 because of the strap ratcheting system. I'm not sure if it is worth it or not but I'll soon find out. Running these on DuraAce PD7800 pedals, and I'm interested to see if it disengages during skidding.
