Yes, I did okay, but I had no idea the DNF rate was that high. Climbing back out of Death Valley the SAG truck went by with eight (yeah, I counted) bikes on the roof, so I knew some riders were out . . . but 50%?

Every report I've read of this ride has described is the most. miserable. ride. ever. I can't decide if you all deserve medals of recommendation or commitment to a mental institution. I'm impressed by you who finished it, and have sympathy for those who pulled the plug early

I wouldn't call it The Most Miserable Ride Ever, and since I was dressed for it, the whole ride really wasn't that bad. I did feel sorry for those riders who were way under-dressed for the conditions but I guess old age and experience do count for something after all. Oh, and don't worry, the weather will be fine for Knoxville .
