This was my second try at the Pioneer. I signed up for the 100 miles last year, but the big climb just took too much out of me, and so I was completely done after 55. This year, I guess I trained a lot better, because I finished the whole 100 in time to get a couple more of those tasty fajitas at the end.
I expected the 45 mile loop to be easy compared to all the climbing on the 55, but I tell you it seemed like every time the course turned we were turning into the wind. I'm not quite sure how that works. You'd think somewhere in a loop the wind would have to be at your back.
But it was a great ride and the support was fantastic.
