Timberline Lodge is the end of the road actually, after 61 miles climbing from downtown Portland. the Shining was shot there.
You can start your climbing earlier in the ride if you take the light rail (MAX) out to the end of the line in Gresham, then ride out from there.
About 45 miles one way from there.
