Yes they do. The image of an upright cyclist on their bike has been etched in our minds and predates living memory.
Recumbents look nerdy because mostly they have:
a) a small odd ball wheel at the front, and
b) a musty looking deck chair style seat
In my last bike design I tried to change that.
But the sculptural carbon fibre low racers - Its pretty hard to accept them as nerdy!
