my official guesstimate is 1000 to 1200... I'm too lazy to check ebay completed items, it's like the blue book for bikes.

edit .. checked http://cgi.ebay.com/Trek-top-fuel-98...3%3A1|294%3A50 it's an 04, so I may be a little bit low.
