Does road racing in SoCal really end in August???

OK --- so it looks like I'll be in SoCal (The OC, specifically) through the end of September for work. And, due to time and budget constraints, I won't be traveling back home on some weekends. So I took a look at the racing schedule for SCNCA (SCNCA Race Schedule) and it appears that, starting in September, there's only an occasional poopy time trial left for the rest of '09 --- no crits or road races.

No post August crits or road races in SoCal. Really? Really?? This seems odd to me.

Even your brethren in NoCal have post August races scheduled (NCNCA Race Schedule).

I know that there are rides like Rose Bowl and Montrose that are basically races, but it seems odd that sanctioned road racing in SoCal seems to end in August.
