Tire Sizing, and Good news... Maybe?

On my old Schwinn, I had a set of Continental Sport Contacts (26 x 1.6). I loved those tires more than I've ever loved any set of tires I've ever had on a bike (although the Kevlar Bontrager Selects on my Road bike are nice, just not this nice). They resist every puncture, crunch glass like Godzilla, and so on.

In short, I love them.

So it was with much dismay that my new hybrid comes with 700cc tires (700x40 to be specific).

Anyway, while perusing conti-online.com, I noticed that they have a size conversion chart, and supposedly, 700 x 37 converts to 28 x 1 3/8 x 1 5/8 in standard. The SC's are available at that size, but I'm wondering if that number sounds about right to people, and if you guys think they'll work on the Raleigh in place of the factory specced tires.

Any help you can offer would be tremendously appreciated. It would appear that Conti thinks they'll work, based on their size conversion chart, but I know that the people here truly know their stuff...
