I rode it last year as well. This is a great event.
Only complaint is that they could have used another water stop or two out around the rim - it was unusually hot out that day, and there's no drinking water available at the campsites.
But I get the impression they'll be better prepared in case this years' event is a scorcher as well.
I'm doing the event again this year, I just returned to cycling after a long respite after a crash so I'll be lucky if I manage to make it as far as the rim this time around. But I wouldn't dream of missing it.
