I had a couple of fluorescent green and orange ones from the 80s, by Avocet I believe. We worn out the green on a kids bike long ago, then more recently I put the orange on my son's cruiser for high school as a lark. Someone ripped it off the first day - I've hardly ever seen him so mad.
Hard to predict what becomes "cool."
Oh yeah, after that, we went into a hi-end bike shop asking for them. The mechanic said he had a whole box that he threw away during mechanic's school.
