origin8 del passado dilemma

New to the forum here, but have a dilemma. Been riding fixed for years in NYC and I have a nice bike I really like for this purpose. clean and set up exactly as I want it. Now I'm looking for a single speed commuter, basically a track bike with free wheel and brakes and with similar geometry to the bike I've been riding. So last night at the local bike shop, I test rode this new origin8 del passado, and it really fit. bike shop wants around $600 for it, but I want to make sure I'm not buying a total piece of junk. It's velocity wheel set, origin8 bars, stem, cranks. Anyone know anything about these frames. I know they retail around $200 for frame and fork. I don't really care about the cool factor, I just really liked the fit. felt like a bike that would beckon me daily, unfortunately the fixie has had it's heyday, but I still love to ride it just not as a commuter(rather my knees don't like it as a commuter)
