Creaks source can be deceptive. On our bike creaks felt to be crank related turned out to be from
the stokers HB/stem connex to the pilot seat post. You may be chasing something other than the
wheel. You might carefully eyeball the spoke/rim interface for subtle cracks in the rim from spoke
pull through. We had that problem as well on our Rolfs, at about 4000mi or so.
