+1 Get to know oxalic.
Anything abrasive will remove the feeble layer of chrome on those forks. Ask me now I know...
One great thing about U08s is that there are so many of them out there, just about anything you want to try has been done many times before. So a little searching and you will find the U08 transformed into many forms.
I still have two in the workshop in pieces right now. They both need to go through the oxalic bath before I do anything else to them. And they have a couple of bikes ahead of them in line.
Stock saddle on the U08 was an AGDA. Looked a lot like a Brooks, from a distance.... Not much value there. But looks good on the bike.
