Whatever you are comfortable with. Myself, I wouldn't do that ride without a mirror. A guy I ride with won't wear a mirror either and I have watched him take chances because he didn't see cars behind him. I have had to warn him before when cross lanes as well; but everyone's different.
Also, the roads I ride also have a more traffic on them than the photo in your example and I still use a mirror.
Your not going to try to talk me out of my helmet too are you?
