India and China are both big countries with very diverse geography. While I live in a flat city, you only need to go a few hundred km to the SW to be at the base of the largest land bluff on earth, the top of it is Tibet. Not far from here are a few 7000m + peaks (just shy of 23,000 ft for the metrically challenged).

Some towns here are in China are built on the side of mountains.

India also has much bigger mountains than the U.S.
