Unfortunately, this seems to be the rule, not the exception. It is somewhat of a downer that you have such a good resource (trail) to get to work, and it may be as dangerous @ the road! However, you've got it right - when the path is crowded, you must slow down, and be VERY aware of potential bone-heads!
