The LHT handled very well, but I did make some adjustments on it. Two months before the trip I slept wrong on my neck/back which made it impossible for me use drop bars. So I switched out my drop bars for an albatross bar. While I was doing that I also changed to sidepull breaks. Luckily I did this because I think drop bars would make the ride much more difficult to navigate the terrain. I also switched out the tires for some 2.2's. If and when I do the ride again I will probably use a suspension fork. It took many massages and a couple adjustments to be right again after the ride. I developed a huge knot in my back/shoulder from constantly white knuckling downhills.
However aside from that the bike was a true champion. Always staying in tune and never having nagging issues. I hope this helps. If you have more questions let me know.
