In all sincerity ... and with no disrespect ... the ParkTool link and Sheldon Brown (RIP!) links rather cover it.

In 99.9% of cases, it's a process of methodically and systematically removing, cleaning, and re-torquing (to spec) one thing/set of things (eg, chainring bolts) at a time until it's been isolated.

In the remainder of cases, it's probably a crack IN the frame about 90% of that 1/10th of a % of cases.

But it's /verrrrry/ rare that somebody's creak/squeak/noise isn't resolved through patient trial and error.

BTW: I'm going with bb on yours, too: remove, clean, lube (grease/anti-seize/teflon tape -- your choice), and torque to spec.

Got that torque wrench yet? ;-)
