jtek shiftmate install question..

I asked this in c&v and didnt get any responses so i figure i'd try here.

I just installed this and it seems like i may have installed it incorrectly. My cable housing enters the device and is secured via the hole, but the exit cable simply butts up against the supplied nipple and the nipple is inserted into the derailleur body. There are no grooves to hold the nipple in place against the shiftmate. It pretty much is pushed up against the surface of it shiftmate and is held together with the tension of the cable being fastened to the derailleur.

Am I missing something or is this supposed to be how it is put together??
