During today's ride, I had a hard time reading my Garmin once underway because I was wearing sunglasses and not my normal glasses (for reading only).

I know there are combo type glasses out there somewhere, but I searched the net and found nothing that really worked from a cyclist point of view.

What are you people doing who wear glasses for reading, but prefer sunglasses for riding? My glasses get darker, like sunglasses, but they let a lot of wind into my eyes, while the sunglasses are made for cycling and prevent the wind from drying out my eyes.

I bought a pair of sunglasses on ebay for about $7 that have readers buit in. You have to look through the bottem of the glasses to read. They are not the best sunglasses but they do work for me

You can order a pair of Rx sunglasses from Zenni fairly cheap.

There are hydrotac stick-on reading magnifier inserts available. I have not tried them, so I don't know how well they work.

I've been using these for about 3+ years now. Maybe the best $$ I ever spent for cycling item. I use the SL2 Pros.

While not real high dollar, I've had good luck with finding wrap around safety sun glasses with readers built in at Walmart and at safety supply stores. I believe the readers go up to about +3 or so.

I use contacts with mine for distance and use a +1 1/2 for reading the bike computer.

I addition to Dual mentioned above, I believe Rudy Project makes glasses with a reader section built in. I know Tifosi makes a pair with a reading strip built in, and I believe they are pretty inexpensive. Like maybe $50.

I've been wearing these Radians C2-220 Bi-Focal Reading Safety Glasses For $9 get two or three.

I am glad I found this thread, I have the same issues as @NYMXer and this thread started me on the quest for reader sport sunglasses. I, like all aging people in general only need helpers because my arms are too short and I don't want to mount my Garmin another foot in front of my bike. I picked up a pair of Tifosi Veloce Readers for just about $36 from an online golf shop. They should be here Monday. I looked at readers.com, amazon.com and a few other sites that resell the cheap Asian made bifocal glasses and was reluctant to pull the trigger not knowing the overall quality and seeing more than single count less than stellar reviews, and most did not specify light transmission percentages. So I didn't spend $9 a pair but also didn't want to spend more than $50. The Tifosi fit the requirements.

I thought about the stick on lenses but for just a few dollars more I have a new pair of glasses to replace my aging, discontinued, no more parts available Smith's.

You just have to Know what magnification multiplier you need for the distance that you want to read from.

From what I understand and have read on Amazon the limiting factor on these is that you lose a bit of clarity vs. molded in bifocal. Second thing I noticed was that they appear just a bit weaker than the indicated diopter adjustment.

I noticed that there seem to be two main players in the stick on lenses, hydrotac and zcifi. The main difference being that the zcifi appear to be thinner. Some also say that zcifi has better instructions for attaching the lenses, but they both attach the same way.

Sometimes it sucks getting old.

Come back after you use them a bit and let us know how they worked. I got the Tifosi late Saturday and will ride with them on Monday for the first time. I think I am going to have to relearn how to glance at the Garmin rather than tilt my head down since I have never used bifocals before.

I wear no line bifocals and my spare glasses are the lined ones. I don't like them and would think the immediate change would be worrisome for me while I'm on the bike.

I wear my regular glasses with clip-on sunglasses and that seems to work for me.

I actually just came back from my first ride with the bifocal Tifosi. It is not as bad as you think @up on two. Since your head is up most of the time riding to glance at the Garmin with just the slightest head tilt is easy and having the fields tack sharp means no focusing on them. It makes glancing looks meaningful. I guess vanity kept me from doing this two years ago

For about $16 on Amazon, you can purchase wrap-around sunglasses designed to fit over regular prescription glasses. They come in different sizes based on the dimensions of glasses they fit over. Not the most stylish, but I wore them on a weeklong ride across Kansas earlier this summer and was very happy with them.
