Aero Bars After Dislocated Shoulder
3 years ago, I dislocated my shoulder, and as I got back into serious cycling, I found the shoulder was a bit uncomfortable on aero bars. I re-dislocated the shoulder this past weekend, and while it didn't happen on the aero bars, I'm worried that when I get back to using them again, I will be risking more discomfort or even a third dislocation while riding. I can picture the results of dislocating a shoulder while riding a bike at 25mph+ being a bit spectacular. Has anyone out there tried to use aero bars after a dislocation? Any tips on how to minimize discomfort and risks on them?

I suffer from chronic shoulder pain from rotator cuff problems so I understand your pain. In the motorcycle motocross world shoulder injuries such as you have are common. A visit to any forum of Motocross riders will give you a great deal of information about this issue. They have shoulder braces that help keep things together. Here is a link to one such brace. They are not expensive. I hope this helps out.

Not following an Injury.. Just For an Hour Long Commute ... I had a set of Profile aerobar bull-horn aero bar combination ..
1 tube formed into Both..
also got a Zzipper thriller road Fairing , in front of it, so the aero was Not Me , bent way over , but the fairing.
so the bars were set up high and close .. a tall but short reach stem ..
Aerobar arm pads let me take the pressure off the hands .. and because if the fairing,
I could hear the 'books on Tape' recordings I had playing thru the ear buds .. Tape cassettes borrowed from the Library.
Still not really going that fast .. covered 12 miles in an Hour.
