My new trike. If you can build it yourself.

hello group.

I did not really need a trike but I wanted one. I was amazed when I found the xyz site and the free plans for the trike. I made one and have started getting used to it, tuning in gears and brakes and the seat.

What makes me think this is a good bike for some of you guys is that:

It is NOT low, your bum is as high as it is on a regular kitchen chair.

You are sitting upright, again like in a kitchen/dining chair.

E assist can be added.

When sitting on it I find the trike can be rolled/controlled or turned much like a wheel chair. The two front wheels is where your hands are so almost the same (but not for long distances).

Can be built longer as a cargo bike or for transporting one or two peopel (only one pedaling so you want E-assist for this).

The free plans is only for the trike but if you understand the system you can make almost anything including hand bikes and trailers. My next poject is a strong garden cart that can also be used as a bike trailer or behind a small tractor on the farm.

I have no connection to the group that invented the system. Just found it on the net and wanted to share.

So far so good. I decided that I vanted more gears than the Nexus7 hub I added (hilly area) plus I also wanted a shorter chain. Therefor I have made a drivetrain with two hubs. Front hub is giving me three gears. This is instead of two or three chanrings in the front (no space for that) and this also gave me two shorter chains instead of the one long one.

Next job is to change out one of the two cogs on the front gear hub. It is difficult to calculate the gears on such a drivetrain so I just play by the ear. Want more gears for hills and less gears for speed than what I curently have.

A lot to do these days but I`ll try to post more pix later.
